Russian President’s Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov commented on the detention of The Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich in Yekaterinburg.
“This is the prerogative of the FSB. They’ve already made a statement. We have nothing to add here. “All I can say is, as far as we know, he was caught red-handed.”
He also answered the question of whether all American journalists in Russia should be checked.
“We hope that this will not happen and should not happen. We are not talking about suspicion there, we are talking about being caught red-handed,” Peskov said.
On March 30, the Russian Federal Security Service announced that WSJ reporter Evan Gershkovich was detained in Yekaterinburg. The intelligence service said that the journalist collected information about the activities of one of the enterprises in the military-industrial complex of the country, on the instruction of the United States, a criminal case was filed against him under an article about espionage.
