The military counterintelligence service has identified two more people working for foreign intelligence agencies, said Stanisław Żaryn, deputy minister of special services coordinator. The foreigners detained in recent weeks worked for Russia and Belarus.
Russian spy arrested
The cabinet of the minister-coordinator of special services announced on Monday that the military counterintelligence service had identified another suspect of espionage activities for Russia. The man was detained and charged by the prosecutor’s office with spying for Russian intelligence. According to the court ruling, he was arrested for three months.
The foreigner arrested on Tuesday is suspected of carrying out reconnaissance activities for the Russian special services.
Evidence shows that it has, among other things, collected information on critical infrastructure in the Pomorskie and Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodeships, and on the activities of services and agencies responsible for security. The information obtained was passed on by the man to the Russian services
– reported the Cabinet of the Minister-Coordinator of Special Services.
The agency added that the suspect confessed to the crime, described the details of his actions and the circumstances of his recruitment by Russian intelligence.
The man had been performing tasks assigned by the Russian service since at least January 2023.

The man worked for the Belarusian intelligence service
On March 1, another foreigner who worked for the Belarusian special services was detained on the basis of military counterintelligence information.
The man was charged with espionage for the Belarusian intelligence service. The material collected shows that the suspect carried out reconnaissance of objects important for the security of the Republic of Poland, including objects related to the Polish armed forces.
The court in Lublin imposed a preventive measure on the man in the form of three months’ pre-trial detention.
Since the start of the large-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Polish services have already detained 20 people suspected of collaborating with Russian or Belarusian intelligence.
SKW’s recent successes – according to Stanisław Żaryn, Deputy Minister of Coordinator of Special Services – has recently made the agency the target of a hacker attack.
Indeed, we recently noted a brief unavailability of the SKW website, but these actions were quickly neutralized and the website was restored. We also had a DDoS attack here
Zaryn said Sunday.
He added that these activities can be analyzed through the prism of an attempt to respond to the effective actions of Polish counterintelligence.
Let me remind you that both the ABW and the SKW have been very effective in neutralizing subsequent Russian intelligence activities against Poland in recent months.
– he said.
