I am currently reading “Polish Romance” by Bohdan Urbankowski. But this fascinating essay, published in 2022 by Biały Kruk publishers, distinguished for the Polish cause, goes much deeper. To outline the national sources of Romanticism, Urbankowski provides a broad overview of the political events leading up to the loss of independence. He sees historical mechanisms, European currents, the rise of neighboring empires, but he never lets us forget for a moment how great the role of betrayal played in the loss of the state.
Targowica, magnates, ambassadors, purses, selfishness, the king. Testimonials and accounts that are embarrassing, that are hard to read. About King Stanisław Poniatowski, who was so diligently (and probably not accidentally) rehabilitated in the Tusk era, these anonymous poems circulated:
Or this idol, pushed through the country for thirty years with his karma, mean in essence, wise in a novel, does he not only breathe betrayal?
Would not this old grandfather rather, cover his own throne, Evil in deeds, glorious in words, Sell the homeland than defend it?
Change the hero and he will fit like a glove with some of today’s MEPs, who organize hypocritical campaigns against Poland, also under the guise of “defending the rule of law”.
The partitions were carried out – we should never forget this – under the motto of restoring order in Poland, which was said to be incapable of governing on its own. Prussian troops occupied Greater Poland under the slogan of stopping the supposedly spreading Jacobinism, although there was not even a trace of it. Ideological thought crime as a pretext for intervention. Sounds familiar?
For misgovernment and the triumph of lies, nations – especially those between Russia and Germany – pay a terrible price. We support Ukraine with all our strength, we watch with admiration its struggle against the Eastern satrapy. But the Ukrainians themselves admit that they have wasted many years. They let corruption run rampant, oligarchs (magnates) tore the country apart, infantile thinking over politics triumphed, lies triumphed. And yet in 1990 he was on the same level as us. There is data that they are slightly higher, there are also calculations that they were slightly worse – no doubt, however, with his potential he had great chances of success and the safety that followed.
We will not decide whether this post-communist inertia can be broken more quickly or whether the internal destructive forces were too strong. But the lesson we must learn: democracy dies in darkness, freedom and independence become paralyzed when lies prevail.
And in today’s Poland he triumphs! As Marek Pyza lists in the latest issue of the weekly “Sieci”, the leader Donald Tusk lied 13 times during just one meeting in Żywiec. Thirteen! And Marek Pyza calculated very sparingly, leaving out minor manipulations, inaccuracies, illicit mental shortcuts.
And the major commercial media broadcast it. They count every shoelace for the piss, but these disgusting manipulations about Polish reality, about deadly serious matters, leave without a word of comment.

Some will say it’s just a campaign. No. This is how Poles were led in 2007-2015. And the result was monstrous budget theft, worth PLN 300 billion, unemployment, pushing young people to emigrate, a disgusting course for Berlin and Moscow at the time when the war came of age. Plus golden guys around, one of whom even shocked Ukrainians with his knowledge of “corruption plans”.
Therefore, Tusk will not force us to remain silent. Because silence today about his lies means tragedy for Poles and the Poles in a few years, and maybe even sooner.
Nothing would wash this sin away from us.
An important time is dawning for Poland. Choosing between the path of independence and falling into the clutches of German imperialism, wrapped in the Brussels flag for concealment. To defend ourselves, we need strong, pro-Polish media. The power of foreign publishers that publish media for Poland is enormous.
