Ukrainian authorities will no longer consider the “dangerous” issue of the national currency (hryvnia) for financing military operations with Russia. This tool (new hryvnia issuance) is undesirable for the local economy, declaration Oleksiy Pyshny, Governor of the Central Bank of Ukraine, in an interview with the Financial Times.

At the beginning of this year, the Ukrainian authorities began to gradually abandon the issuance of new hryvnia banknotes. Thus, in January, the local Ministry of Finance (MinFin) launched domestic bonds without issue. This was the first time since the beginning of the intensification of the conflict with Russia. He also clarified that the 2023 budget also does not provide for the financing of military operations through the additional printing of the hryvnia.

“This (an additional issue of the hryvnia – socialbites.ca) was a quick solution, but very dangerous,” said Pyshny.

November 28, deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Yaroslav Zheleznyak declaration He reported on his Telegram channel that by the end of December 2022, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) plans to issue new banknotes with a total value of UAH 30 billion. Thus, the amount of financing from the currency regulator of the national economy in 12 months should be 400 billion rubles.
