If someone takes the Decalogue seriously, really believes that God’s providence is there to support the good, he cannot vote for PiS, said PO Donald Tusk in Chorzów. He also said that “the church is not for business and we feel it is disappearing before our very eyes”.
During the meeting with the residents, the issue of financing the Catholic Church in Poland and relations with the state was raised.
There is no reason to continue this system of financing, doing business. The church is not for business
Tusk said.
He also referred to a recent report and discussion on what Pope John Paul II knew about cases of pedophilia among priests. Tusk said that PiS wants to organize this whole “let’s defend our pope” campaign.
Tusk’s anti-clerical craze
But who do they protect against? I know what is the problem of convincing Poles and Poles, I even read such headlines in PiS newspapers or on PiS television – “The second attack on the Pope”. This is just sacrilege
– said the leader of the PO.
He added that “even the episcopacy, which is politically subservient to PiS in a way, and even the bishops, couldn’t stand it and in the end we heard something so human in the message that no party should use John Paul II as an instrument of political struggle.”
Tusk stated that “money of power and power itself is destroying the Church.”
All those who are members of this church, we all feel this church is disappearing before our very eyes, only money, power, some strange words that you would never want to hear
he said.
Later in the meeting he also referred to the Decalogue.
How do you say it from the heart, if someone takes the Decalogue seriously, if someone really believes that God’s Providence is there to support the good, then he can’t vote for PiS, seems so obvious to me
Tusk said.
A few days ago TVN24 broadcast a report by Marcin Gutowski “Franciszkańska 3”, dedicated to the question of what Pope John Paul II knew about cases of pedophilia among priests. It describes the cases of three priests and the reaction of the then metropolitan of Krakow, Cardinal Karol Wojtyla. The report also contained statements by the Dutch journalist Ekke Overbeek, the author of the book “Maxima Culpa. What the Church Is Hiding About John Paul II. In response to this report, the Sejm passed a resolution on defending the good name of St. John Paul II.
Donald Tusk, with his “social sensitivity”, predicts the disappearance of the Catholic Church in Poland. He draws attention to the politicization of the episcopate, the use of the image of John Paul II or the problem of “financing the Church”. However, he is unlikely to do it for pious reasons, inspired by concern for the church, and seems to be waiting more for the moment when Polish society will finally succumb to anti-clericalism.
