“The Kremlin entwined the whole of Europe with a network of pipelines and made it dependent on it. That is why our government immediately reversed the vectors of energy policy,” said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at the “E23: PL for UA” conference.
The head of the Polish government spoke about Polish-Ukrainian cooperation on energy security.
Polish-Ukrainian partnership in building future energy security – this is the topic of this conference, which is very topical and relevant to today’s challenges. We are in a time of geopolitical breakthrough – the paradigms of energy policy are changing
– he said.
After Moscow’s gas blackmail against Poland and Ukraine – after the attack on Georgia, we knew that a monopoly in Europe is as important to Putin as tanks and ammunition. For example, the Kremlin entwined the whole of Europe with a network of pipelines and made it dependent on it, which is why our government immediately reversed the energy policy vectors
– added.
Prime Minister Morawiecki recalled the Polish response to Russian aggression and the departure of the resources sold by the Kremlin.
We have begun the process of moving away from Russian energy sources. We built the Baltic Pipe, expanded the gas terminal in Świnoujście and signed contracts for gas supplies from different directions around the world
he said.
Tusk and Russia
The head of government also recalled the activities of Donald Tusk and his attitude towards Russian raw materials.
Donald Tusk, like a horse in a mine, stubbornly dragged Poland into complete energy dependence on Putin. The PO government wanted to sign the Yamal contract until 2037. PO was active in making Poland dependent on Russian hydrocarbons
– argued the prime minister.
