The Cabinet this Tuesday approved the appointment of Nuria Matarredona Desantes from Alcoy as the new Director-General of Urban Agenda and Architecture.at the suggestion of Raquel Sánchez, Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma), the ministry said in a statement.
The new general manager of Urban Agenda and Architecture replaces Iñaqui Carnicero, who was appointed general secretary of Urban Agenda and Housing at the end of February.
Born in Alcoy (Alicante) in 1982, Matarredona Vice-President of the Generalitat Valenciana and Head of the Directorate General for Ecological Innovations in Construction at the Ministry of Housing and Architecture.
He joined Generalitat in 2019 as head of the Technical Unit of the Educational Infrastructures Regional Service. Since then, Matarredona has coordinated initiatives such as the ‘Green Guide to Environmental Measures for the supply of ecological public buildings’.According to Mitma, ‘Generalitat Valenciana’s Digitization Strategy for BIM Sustainability, or participatory design of the pioneering process for the public procurement of innovation to provide outdoor spaces to pre-existing homes.
Matarredona Desantes is a Cum Laude doctor of architecture from the Polytechnic University of Valencia with the International Honorable Mention and holds a Master’s degree in the Conservation of the Architectural Heritage and a thesis awarded with the Outstanding Prize in 2018.
His career is rounded off by research visits at Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania, the National Autonomous University of Mexico, the Polytechnic University of Madrid or the University of San Carlos in Guatemala, among others.
