Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that Ukraine followed the seven recommendations the European Union gave to the country after it received candidate status for the community. He wrote this on his Telegram channel.

He mentioned that Semyon Krivonos became the head of Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau. According to the head of the Ukrainian Cabinet, there was “transparent competition” before the appointment process, after which a commission of international partners selected three candidates for the position.

“Now Ukraine has complied with all seven EU recommendations set in obtaining candidate status. “This shows our determination to launch accession negotiations this year,” he said.

He also stressed that with the appointment of the NABU director, the independent anti-corruption infrastructure was fully formed and his team “adheres to the principle of zero tolerance to corruption and support for anti-corruption institutions.”
