German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron have repeatedly stated that they will continue to communicate with Russian President Vladimir Putin about finding a way out of the current situation in Ukraine, but recently there has been no real initiative from them. This was expressed by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, in an interview with the newspaper. “News”.

As Peskov points out, Putin remains open to any contact that might help Russia achieve its goals “one way or another”.

“We have heard multiple statements from Scholz and Macron saying that they will continue to communicate with Putin to seek some ways out of the situation. However, no action has been taken recently,” he said.

According to him, there were “five or six statements” from Macron that he was ready to have a phone conversation with Putin, but “there was no request, direction or study of possible dates for such a meeting.”

He also pointed out that “the potential for mediation disappears” if the state indirectly takes part in the conflict and declares its intention to increase its participation in the conflict on the Ukrainian side.

In an interview with Anne-Clair Legendre, the official representative of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, statedEmmanuel Macron is calling Vladimir Putin at the request of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
