Azerbaijan demands compensation from Armenia for exploitation of energy resources

Azerbaijan demanded compensation from Armenia for the exploitation of energy resources and initiated an interstate arbitration process against Yerevan, informs Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic.

According to Baku, the Azerbaijani side is demanding compensation for “violation of Azerbaijan’s sovereign rights over energy resources during the nearly 30-year (from 1991 to 2020) occupation of the Azerbaijani territory”.

Former Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Ceyhun Bayramov declarationYerevan avoids negotiations with Baku. He told this to reporters.

According to him, the parties switched to “online diplomacy” and communicated their terms to each other.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended the trilateral meeting with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference. According to Pashinyan’s office, the parties discussed the progress of work on the draft peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
