The opposition is retaliating for the very wrong electoral strategy of keeping this war quiet in the public debate. In the information material, PO politicians are sounding the alarm that prices are rising “due to PiS”, while most of the factors of economic difficulties stem from the coronavirus crisis and the consequences of the Russian invasion. The truest totalitarianism and genocides attack Ukraine, change the map of the West’s political connections, historic challenges appear for Poland, and the people of Tusk and Trzaskowski talk to their constituents as if it were February 23, 2022. And their behavior and statements sound detached from reality, they resemble the call of the Stalinist Nina Alexandrovna Andreyeva from 1988, when communism, the state and the party were collapsing, that it is necessary to return to the Leninist principles. Here are the most distant opposition stories:
After Piątek and Rzeczkowski, the authors of bizarre books, repeat that PiS is an agent of the Kremlin, while the United Right government is considered around the world as one of the most anti-Russian governments in Europe.
Continued accusations from Kaczyński’s party of being pro-Russian, with the strange suppression of openly pro-Putin statements by many members of the Confederation.
Saying that PiS weakens the state, while minister Mariusz Błaszczak’s intensive purchases are already being commented in the world press as building the strongest army in Europe.
Hysterical calls to let in immigrants planted by the Lukashenko regime on the Polish-Belarusian border, while the backstage of this secret service operation is already known as an attempt to destabilize Poland.
Alarming tones around fuel prices when it is a result of energy diversification for independence from Russia.
Speaking of the violation of the rule of law and human rights in Poland, when during this war both the Poles and the Polish authorities made a huge effort to save the victims of the Russian invasion. Paweł Kowal even saw threats to PiS in Biden’s speech – an intellectual somersault worthy of the acrobatics of Singer’s magician from Lublin.
The wrong strategy to disguise the scale of the Russian invasion results not only in false statements, but also in the lack of proper conduct. Perhaps with the exception of Trzaskowski, who took some steps to help refugees from Ukraine or established relations with the mayor of Kiev, liberal leaders do not have decent conversations about the war, do not organize aid on the scale that is possible for them (European contacts, power in local governments, senate), only moving their legs for a photo with Joe Biden, inflating to a grotesque scale 40 seconds exchange of pleasantries with the US president.
After once falling into a false narrative (perhaps, like the Germans, they also thought the war would soon end), the opposition is building an alternate reality and as President Duda builds an unprecedented relationship with Volodymyr Zełenski, Prime Minister Morawiecki struggles with a conservative coalition building in Europe, and Washington finally understanding Poland’s importance in the region, Tusk writing about Valentine’s Day, Hołownia trying to settle accounts with the party’s finances, and their cadres repeating totally inaccurate pre-war mantras. As long as they are in opposition, it sounds both funny and terrible, but when they come to power, it will only be terrible.
