Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that the US Ambassador to Moscow, Lynn Tracy, did not request a meeting at the Foreign Ministry after the Russian authorities’ decision to suspend participation in the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START). Words lead the way DEA News.
Earlier, Ryabkov said that the United States itself could withdraw from the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty.
According to him, “the behavioral sketch of Washington does not put in an optimistic mood,” so it is difficult to predict any options for the development of further events. He noted that the State Department did not see any signs that Washington’s behavior was changing for the better.
The diplomat also added that Russia will remain committed to START. The agreement was signed between the USSR and the USA in 1988. Ryabkov also explained that Moscow could monitor how the United States complied with the terms of the treaty.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed Ryabkov to represent him as he considers the suspension of START.
