On Monday evening, President Andrzej Duda met with the Prime Minister of the Italian Republic, Giorgia Meloni, at the Presidential Palace.
On Monday afternoon, the head of the Italian government met Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
This is Giorgia Meloni’s first visit to Poland since she headed the centre-right government after winning elections last October.
After a visit to Poland, Meloni goes to Ukraine. A few weeks earlier, the Italian Prime Minister had announced that she would go to Kiev before the first anniversary of the Russian attack on Ukraine. According to unofficial information, she is expected in the capital of this country on Tuesday.
Italian media correspondents report that efforts are also being made to organize a meeting between Giorgia Meloni and US President Joe Biden, who is coming to Warsaw on Monday after an unannounced visit to Ukraine. These speculations have not been denied by the Italian government, the newspapers note.
