In our opinion, the policies of Donald Tusk and PO in 2007-2015 were extreme, radically pro-Russian, often against the strategic interests of our country – PiS MEP Tomasz Poręba assessed Friday.
“Against the strategic interests of our country
During Friday’s press conference, PiS spokesman Rafał Bochenek pointed out that for 28 days, neither PO head Donald Tusk nor his group had answered 10 questions about energy and military security posed by PiS politicians.
PiS MEP Tomasz Poręba judged that the answers to these questions are crucial because of the upcoming elections. As he noted, Tusk and PO’s policies in 2007-2015 were “extreme, radically pro-Russian in our opinion, often at odds with our country’s strategic interests.”
Therefore, the questions: why Donald Tusk and PO gave up the anti-missile shield, why he wanted to sell Mazeikiu, Lotos, why military bases were liquidated – are still valid
– added.
“President Putin is not enthusiastic about this project
Poręba admitted that PiS politicians did not expect a response from the PO, so they decided to present these answers themselves. During the conference, a short commercial with archive documents was shown, including Tusk.
In the recording, the teacher asks a question, eg why the former prime minister resigned when the US anti-missile shield was installed in 2008-2009.
President Putin and I have talked for a long time about the anti-missile shield. President Putin is not enthusiastic about this project
— the archival statement of the head of the PO was quoted.
The next question concerned the write-off of a debt of PLN 1.2 billion to the Russian Gazprom.
Gas in Polish-Russian relations cannot and should not be a subject of politics, but only of an enlightened common interest
— reads Tusk’s filing statement.
The spot also asked why the PO government did not block the construction of the Nord Stream gas pipeline, but blocked the Baltic Pipe.
We have important Russian contracts, so obviously we don’t need too much Norwegian gas
– The following statement from Tusk was quoted.
Such military needs, even objectively described, in no way indicate the need to build and operate large units
– is another statement by Tusk, which was cited in response to the question of why military units in eastern Poland were liquidated.
“We would have huge problems with our safety.”
As Bochenek, the chairman of the Civic Platform, judged, avoiding answering the questions put to him, “thereby showing that these statements from some time ago are still valid and perhaps this is the same political direction that PO wants to lead – towards the east, towards Russia”.
However, Poręba ruled that everyone should ask themselves what would happen if Donald Tusk and PO were still in power.
Where would Lotos be, where would Mažeikiai be, in whose hands or not Russian?” What would Poland’s security situation look like, what would the situation look like with other subjects?
the MEP wondered.
We believe that if Donald Tusk’s administration were still around, we would have huge problems in terms of energy and military security. Radical pro-Russian policies in 2007-2015 were consistently implemented by Donald Tusk’s government
– added.
At the same time, he pointed out that the PiS government was modernizing the army, creating military bases in the east of the country and doing everything possible to ensure that our country was energy independent from Russia.
January conference with questions to Tusk
On Friday 20 January, MEP Poręba, together with MEP Jacek Saryusz-Wolski, presented 10 questions to the head of PO, former Prime Minister of the PO-PSL government in 2007-2014, Donald Tusk. asked politicians why Tusk resigned from the installation of the US anti-missile shield in 2008-2009, why the PO-PSL government he led bought back PLN 1 billion PLN 200 million from the Russian company Gazprom in 2010 and why the PO-PSL government he led PSL government canceled the gas contract with Gazprom until 2037, making Poland completely dependent on Russian energy, and also why Tusk handed over the Smolensk research to the Russians.
At the time, MEP Poręba stressed that these were not only questions about the past, but also about the foreign, energy, military and military policies of Donald Tusk’s government.
We hope Donald Tusk finds courage, doesn’t bury his head in the sand and answers these questions
– added.
