Mass protests continue in front of the Israeli parliament against changes to the laws governing the functioning of the country’s judicial system. FAN.
Thousands of people came out to express their opposition to the reform project proposed by the Benjamin Netanyahu government. Many carried state flags and placards saying “Save Israel’s Democracy” and “The Whole World Is Watching”, while some of the demonstrators shouted, “Shame on you! It’s a shame!”.
Protests were also held in other settlements across the country. In total, according to local media, on the eve there were more than 80 thousand protesters on the streets of Israeli cities.
Many Israeli social institutions and companies, including manufacturing and law, have allowed their employees to participate in nationwide strikes.
In response, the government is trying every possible way to prevent protests. In particular, Israeli Education Minister Yoav Kish said that teachers who do not show up for work will not be paid and students will be marked as truant.
