The President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda said in an interview broadcast for the BBC on Sunday that a possible decision to hand over F-16 aircraft to Ukraine cannot be taken by Poland alone, but should be a joint decision of the allies of Ukraine. .
F-16s are some of the best fighters in the world, so there’s no questioning how effective they are. The problem from our point of view is different – first, we believe that this requires an ally decision in any case, which means we have to make a collective decision. And because the F-16s need maintenance, if they were deployed anywhere, it’s not just about jets, it’s about maintenance, service, etc. So it’s not just about sending a few planes, a few jets
said President Duda.
He also pointed out that if Poland transferred even a small portion of its F-16s – which, he stressed, are not in sufficient quantity – it would need much more.
Today, the decision to transfer all jets, all F-16s outside Poland is a very serious decision and it is not an easy decision for us.
– added.
The interview, which aired on Sunday, was given in connection with President Duda’s planned visit to the UK next week.
“I do what I think is right in the interests of the Poles”
Polish President Andrzej Duda said on the BBC on Sunday that the existence of a free, sovereign and independent Ukraine is in the interests of Poland and the security of our part of Europe, and that it is important to put a stop to reborn Russian imperialism. to invoke.
When asked if he is frustrated that some European countries are not helping Ukraine as actively as Poland, Andrzej Duda replied that this issue should not be considered in such matters and that politicians cannot be frustrated.
I am doing what I deem appropriate in the interests of the Poles and from the point of view of the security of our part of Europe – as well as the security of Ukraine. Because what matters to us is to ensure that a free, sovereign and independent Ukraine survives and exists. What is also important is that Russian imperialism, which has been reborn, is stopped
– explained the Polish president.

“International law must prevail”
The President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda said peace in Ukraine is only possible by respecting international law, and that means restoring Ukraine’s territorial sovereignty within its internationally recognized borders.
In an interview, the Polish president recalled that during his speech at the UN General Assembly, he said that peace is possible only by respecting international law, and that respecting international law is the best guarantee of peace.
It is therefore a fact that if the war comes to an end, if Russian aggression comes to an end, the primacy of international law must be restored. International law must prevail. International law guarantees peace and security. Under international law, Ukraine must get back territories that are internationally recognized (as its property), so the Russians must leave the occupied territories of Ukraine
President Duda emphasized.
Andrzej Duda was asked what he would say to Vladimir Putin “if he were here”.
I would like to tell Putin that sooner or later it must end badly for him, because I believe that the world will be united (…). If the free world, the Western community, NATO, if they constantly support Ukraine, then Vladimir Putin must lose
he stressed.
“I’ve always been a life saver”
President Andrzej Duda also spoke on the issue of pro-life.
I am Catholic and therefore, of course, I am a very staunch pro-life. I’m against abortion and that’s all I can say about it. I’ve always been pro-life and never hid it
noted the chairman.
