It is the services, not the town hall, that have all the tools to explain whether there have been any violations of the law – Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski said when asked why the city was so late in responding to irregularities in MPO tenders reported by trade unionists.
Irregularities in the MPO
Already in July, unions reported irregularities in the company to the mayor of Warsaw and asked for a review of the situation in the MPO.
One of our postulates, apart from wages, was a reorganization in the company, consisting in removing politicians and their friends, and introducing in their place a manager who will take care of this company as it should be
– said Waldemar Wolski, chairman of NSZZ “Solidarity” MPO.
We heard through word of mouth that tenders for waste processing cannot be counted on because there is an arrangement with one of the companies. We do not have access to such documents, which is why we have indicated to the president that it should be checked
– added the trade unionist in an interview with PAP.
We have introduced the audit, respecting all deadlines. We in the city have neither the tools nor the ability to clear up matters that, if confirmed, could be corrupt. We can only order an audit
– replied PAP Rafał Trzaskowski. He added that he had warned the board that such an audit would be carried out.
Trzaskowski did not change the board of directors
Rafał Trzaskowski does not yet have the results of the audit. He made no changes to the board of directors, the need for which was reported by union members.
The audit began on January 16. It concerns the analysis and evaluation of the management system at the MPO and the process of preparation and monitoring of the implementation of the expansion and modernization of the municipal solid waste treatment plant in Targówek.
The scope of tasks includes an analysis of cooperation with entrepreneurs, in particular with regard to the effectiveness of the system for monitoring the implementation of projects and investments in the field of municipal waste management. The work of the accountants is currently in full swing
Monika Beuth, a spokeswoman for the capital city hall, told PAP.
Detention of the former deputy minister
