“And I think that Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki will also follow this path, because say: ‘No, no, with Putin? Never!’ it might be taking co-responsibility for what can happen in a war. Because we don’t know who will win this war,” the former president of Poland, Bronisław Komorowski, said in an interview with RMF FM. At the same time, he stipulated that all negotiations with the Russian satrap should take place on terms acceptable to Ukraine.
West without coordination?
I believe that something that the Western world, as well as Polish politics, lacks and that Ukraine desperately needs, is the coordination of
- said former president Bronisław Komorowski in an interview with RMF FM. According to the former Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, such coordination could be done by NATO.*
Of course, NATO is afraid that this will be perceived as involvement in the war in Ukraine, but Putin keeps saying that this is a war with the west. From the point of view of the Russian response, I see no particular threats
– emphasized the guest from RMF FM.
Coordination is needed for what unfortunately may happen in the near future – that the equipment will arrive but there will be no spare parts for it and it will not be possible to fully exploit this potential
he assessed.
Can you negotiate with Putin?
When the former president was asked about the conversation with Prime Minister Morawiecki in “Corriere della Sera” and his words about defeating Russia, he stated:
This is nothing groundbreaking, one would have to ask Morawiecki what it actually means to beat Russia.
Some understand this as the continued existence of an independent Ukrainian state, others – as expelling the Russians, for example, from the territories they occupied last year, and still others – as expelling Russia beyond the 2014 borders, and so on Donbass and Crimea. . And someone else might think it would be the disintegration of Russia
he summed up.
When asked if it is possible to make deals and deal with Putin, Bronisław Komorowski replied:
I am sure of one thing: if that opportunity arises, everyone will encourage Ukraine to talk to Putin about peace terms.
Provided that these terms were acceptable to Ukraine, but also ensured security not only for Ukraine, but also for the entire region after the end of the war
he clarified.
And I think Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki will also follow this path, because saying: “No, no, with Putin? Never!” may take responsibility for what may happen in a war. Because we don’t know who will win this war
said Komorowski. However, the politician did not explain what would happen in the event of an uncompromising attitude to Putin, forgetting that the decision whether or not to agree to negotiations with the Russian satrap rests primarily with Kiev.
“The EU is interested in extinguishing all internal fronts
Referring to the issue of the National Reconstruction Plan, the RMF FM guest stated that – as he had previously predicted, PiS was quick to reject “the appearance of collaborating with the opposition”.
The European Commission has been shuffling its feet for months, waiting for Polish state authorities to provide some kind of alibi for giving money to Poland. It’s not that the EC didn’t want to give, but the Polish government didn’t create the conditions
– he said.
The EU is interested in extinguishing all internal fronts, including Poland, while the EU leaves the door open in the form of a decision after the end of the legislative process. She will watch for the president to sign the bill
– added Bronislaw Komorowski.
In observing the movements of the PiS hawks, the president can take one step: sign the bill and then possibly submit it to Ms. Przyłębska’s Constitutional Tribunal as unconstitutional. The Commission will then, as it has stated itself, have to “let go” of the rule of law issue in Poland a little. And it’s a shame because you could have both — and money from the KPO, and strong rule of law support, I mean the National Judicial Council in particular
he assessed.
“Probably 3 blocks
Asked about the formula in which the opposition can go to the parliamentary elections, Komorowski replied:
Civic platform probably doesn’t want to be dressed in Mr Czarzasty, so there will probably be 3 blocks.
It would be optimal to start the process of creating a programmatic and tactical-political community in the form of a joint list of parties of Mr. Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and Mr. Szymon Hołownia. And this is happening, which means that there is a chance that such a pole will emerge in the ideological dimension, moderately conservative
– added.
Only such an offer could encourage a certain group of “deeply frustrated PiS voters” to vote for the opposition, according to the former president.
The opposition has to play on multiple pianos in the sense of reaching different environments and different political gestures. Let the Civic Platform and the Left take their share, and PiS will have no chance to govern after the election
he said.
It is good to know that Prime Minister Morawiecki’s words about Russia are not “revelatory” for the former president. It is a pity that earlier similar statements by PiS were seen as “Russophobia” by Komorowski’s political camp.
