Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, phoned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. wrote about him twitter.
He promised help and added that he plans to meet with Zelensky on Ukrainian soil.
The EC chief added that the EU will continue to provide financial assistance to Ukraine.
“We will soon start distributing our 18 billion euro support package in monthly tranches,” he wrote.
Former participants of the EU summit accepted the decision to increase military support to Ukraine, especially in terms of air defense (AD) and demining.
Prior to that, at a press conference after the EU summit in Brussels, European Council President Charles Michel said that the EU had agreed to allocate 18 billion euros to Ukraine in 2023. The amount will be transferred to Ukraine by the European Union within the next year, just as the funds were allocated in 2022 – as loans in installments and on preferential repayment terms.
