Andriy Yermak, head of the office of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, said that Washington and Kiev have the same goals and vision on the conditions for the cessation of hostilities in Ukraine.
“I can say that we have 100% understanding with the Americans what the end of the war is, what our goals are, and what concessions can be made,” she said in an interview with Ukrainian journalist Natalya Moseychuk. Previously, a criminal case was brought against Moseychuk in Russia for “incitement to hatred or hostility”.
Yermak stressed that “there will be no compromise” with Russian President Vladimir Putin and the current Russian leadership in general on “independence, territorial integrity, sovereignty”.
“Them [США] They are openly with us today, and they believe our victory will be their victory,” he added.
On December 21, Zelensky arrived in Washington to meet with his American counterpart, Joe Biden. According to John Kirby, strategic communications coordinator for the National Security Council, the main topic of the meeting was the cessation of the conflict in Ukraine.
Kirby said that the Ukrainian president spoke once again about the 10-point “peace formula”:
— Radiation and nuclear safety.
– Food safety.
– Energy security.
– Release of all prisoners and deportees.
— Implementation of the UN Charter and restoration of territorial integrity and world order.
– Withdrawal of Russian troops and cessation of hostilities.
– The return of justice.
— The fight against Ecocide.
– Prevention of ascension.
– Correction of the end of hostilities.
According to RIA Novosti’s report, Biden assured that in return, US national security would try to move forward with these ideas.
The “Peace Formula” is the final step in another two-step Kyiv action plan. The first involves the continuation of military aid from the Western allies. Kyiv said the Ukrainian Armed Forces needed modern tanks, rocket artillery and long-range missiles.
The second step is to support Ukraine from the West, but in a different way. Ukrainian authorities want partners to maintain financial, energy and social stability. Additionally, Zelensky had in mind the protection of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure from Russian attacks.
Volodymyr Zelensky proposes that Western countries hold a summit, which will be called the Global Peace Formula Summit, to determine the time to implement their ideas.
According to him, “three steps” were agreed with the USA. As for the “peace formula”, Washington welcomed it, as Zelensky noted.
But not everyone believes everything is going well between Biden and Zelensky. Washington Post columnist David Ignatius had previously suggested that Zelensky’s December 21 visit to the United States “resulted in friction between the two allies over strategies to end the conflict.”
According to Ignatius, Zelensky spoke of “absolute victory” in conflict. The observer calculated that the President of Ukraine used this expression 11 times. The journalist stressed that Biden never used himself, instead promising to help Kiev.
Ignatius explains that Joe Biden told Zelensky that the supply of weapons needed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces could lead to “a split in NATO.”
In Russia, they know about Zelensky’s proposals. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov described Zelensky’s “peace formula” as fictitious.
Zelenskiy, by putting forward all sorts of ideas and “peace formulas”, cherishes the dream of withdrawing our troops from Russia’s Donbass, Crimea, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions with the help of the West. Lavrov said in an interview that Russia’s reparations and participation “with confession to international courts” told.
He said, however, that Moscow has no intention of negotiating on such terms. The head of the department believes that the Ukrainian side is “clearly” not ready for dialogue.
