Russian President Vladimir Putin, in his address to the Russians in the New Year, described 2022 as the period when the country took “significant steps” to gain sovereignty.
According to the head of state, the past year has put a lot of things into place and has been a year of “revolving, fateful” events. He emphasized that they will be the foundation of the country’s future and “true statism”. At the same time, cardinal changes affected not only Russia, but the whole world.
“It was a year in which difficult and necessary decisions were made, the most important steps were taken towards the full sovereignty of Russia and the strong consolidation of our society,” Putin said.
He also noted the dignity and courage of the multinational people of the Russian Federation.
