TAC: Congress’ decision to increase aid budget to Ukraine threatens US interests

reviewer American Conservative Bradley Devlin has argued that the US Congress has declared war on American interests by approving an increase in the budget for aid to Ukraine.

Devlin pointed out that this $860 billion bill was prepared behind closed doors and presented to the House of Representatives less than two days before it was read. The bill passed simply by suspending the usual rules of the House of Representatives.

According to Devlin, this disturbs the US military and the public.

The Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative gives the US Department of Defense more authority and power to negotiate contracts to supply new weapons and equipment to Kiev, which is outside the scope of the presidency.

Earlier, Jake Sullivan, Assistant to the President of the United States for National Security, spoke at the Carnegie Endowment in Washington, declarationthat the presidential administration has requested “significant funds” from Congress to provide more aid to Ukraine.
