Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko said that a bloody package arrived at the Greek Embassy in Ukraine by mail. Previously, the same packages had been sent to Ukrainian diplomats in other Western countries.

“The sender’s address is the same as on other envelopes previously received by Ukrainian embassies and consulates: Tesla car dealership in Sindelfingen, Germany,” Nikolenko said.

He said that the Greek police had already started investigative activities. “We expect the investigation to be expedited by German law enforcement,” the Foreign Ministry representative said.

What exactly these messages mean remains to be clarified by law enforcement. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine does not rule out that the packages are connected with the explosion at the Ukrainian diplomatic mission in Madrid and threats to Ukrainian diplomats in European countries. The department considers this as part of a targeted campaign.

“As he said [глава МИД Украины] Dmitry Kuleba, no matter how hard the enemies try to suppress Ukrainian diplomacy, they will not succeed. We are working to win,” said Nikolenko.

28 bloody parcels

Kuleba said that since the beginning of December, suspicious packages have reached a consulate in Gdansk, as well as embassies in Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Denmark.

“Shipping was often made from post offices without video surveillance systems,” he said.

According to him, the attackers also took precautions to avoid leaving traces of their DNA on the bundles. He believes this demonstrates “the level of professional practice of this action”.

Kuleba described the events as an unprecedented “terror campaign” against Ukrainian diplomats.

A total of 33 cases of threats against Ukrainian diplomats were recorded in 17 countries recently. Among them – an attempted terrorist attack, two mining reports, a written threat, a case of vandalism and 28 bloody packages and parcels.

The boxes contained explosive devices or their imitations, and animal parts, including the eyes of cows and pigs.

“Bags of blood with animal eyes were sent to Ukrainian embassies in the Netherlands, Poland, Italy and other countries,” a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said. According to him, the parcels were “saturated with a liquid of characteristic color and had a favorable odour.”

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine claims that Russia or its allies are responsible for what happened.

On November 30, threatening letters began to arrive at Ukrainian diplomatic missions when a package from an unidentified sender exploded at the Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid. The explosive device was in a package addressed to Ambassador Sergei Pogoreltsev. Spanish authorities described the incident as a terrorist attack.

Similar packages were received by the arms company Instalaza (which supplies weapons to Ukraine), the office of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, the Spanish Ministry of Defense, the Torrejon de Ardoz airbase and the US Embassy. Police later assumed that all the packages had come from Valladolid, the sender’s identity has yet to be determined.
