Azerbaijanis closed the Lachin corridor connecting Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. They demand a meeting with the commander of the Russian peacekeeping force, Andrei Volkov. It has been reported Spurnik Armenia.
The agency notes that activists, bloggers, journalists and representatives of public organizations refer to “environmental issues”.
Armenian Ambassador Edmon Marukyan tweeted that he saw the protesters’ actions as a provocation. “Ecological activists” blocked the only road connecting Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia. I hope this does not lead to a humanitarian crisis and common sense will prevail,” he wrote.
Member of the People’s Assembly of Armenia Artur Khachatryan expressed the view that the blocking of the Lachin corridor by the Azerbaijani side is an attempt to put pressure on the Nagorno-Karabakh population.
“This is another Azerbaijan provocation. “This is another attempt at political, military, moral and psychological pressure on the people of Artsakh to accept defeat,” he said.
On December 3, a group of Azerbaijanis was already closing the corridor, but after talks with the commander of the Russian peacekeeping unit, the way was cleared.
