About 5,000 soldiers and dozens of armored vehicles participated in the country’s largest military exercise in Switzerland since 1989. writes about it Swiss Information.
The PILUM 22 exercise took place from November 22-29. Four mechanized battalions, a logistics battalion and a mountain infantry unit from the Swiss troops participated in the maneuvers.
During the exercises, the command simulated a ground attack from the north over the city of Basel, close to the Franco-German border. The country’s top military leadership noted that the exercises were generally positive, but that the armed forces had not yet improved radio communications in different parts of the region.
Previously reportedSwitzerland refused to provide helmets and body armor to the Ukrainian armed forces because of the need to maintain its neutral status. The country also continues to supply Ukraine with medical supplies, family tents, mattresses, sleeping bags and woolen blankets.
