Queen Elizabeth’s court lady, British aristocrat Susan Hussey, lost her post after angering black activist Ngozi Fulani over her nationality. These release reports Mirror.
At an event dedicated to violence against women at Buckingham Palace, Hussie asked Fulani “where he is from”, “where your people are from” and “what part of Africa are you from”. Fulani, head of a domestic violence association, reported the conversation on his Twitter.
Witness to the speech, Women’s Equality Party leader Mandu Reed evaluated that black women were treated as “thugs” at the palace. To him, the conversation was like an interrogation.
“We were treated like we weren’t our own, we weren’t perceived as British,” Reid said.
Lady Susan Hussey reportedly no longer holds her honorary position at the royal court.
A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said: “We took the incident seriously and immediately launched an investigation to uncover all the details.”
Lady Susan Hussey has been Queen Elizabeth II since the 1960s. She is Elizabeth’s bridesmaid and assistant to the royal family.
