Alexei Kudrin announced on his Telegram channel that he is leaving the post of head of the Accounts Chamber. In the post, he wrote that he “made a relevant application” to President Putin “in due course”.

“In total, I worked in the public sector for about 25 years. Now I want to focus on big projects that are broadly related to the development of private initiatives but also have a significant impact on people,” Kudrin wrote.

The head of the Federation Council budget committee, Anatoly Artamonov, confirmed to RIA Novosti that the Federation Council has received the chairman’s offer to remove Kudrin from the post of head of the Accounts Chamber.

A source in the upper house of parliament also told the agency that the document will be discussed at a meeting on November 30. This information was confirmed by Elena Perminova, the first deputy chairman of the budget committee of the Federation Council.

Rumors about the transition to Yandex

On November 25, RBC reported, citing sources, that Alexei Kudrin had met with Russian President Vladimir Putin the previous night. According to the channel, they agreed that Kudrin will “move from the Account Room to Yandex.” At the meeting, it was also decided to share the company’s property.

“At Yandex, Kudrin will head a new management structure that will include the current management of Yandex,” the message said.

Nearly 25 years in public service

Aleksey Kudrin was born in 1960 in Dobele, Latvia, to a military family.

He graduated from the Faculty of Economics of Leningrad State University in 1983. In 1990, Kudrin began working in the executive authorities of Leningrad. He served as Deputy Chairman of the Economic Development Committee from November 1991 to 1992.

In 1992-1993 St. He headed the Main Finance Department of the St. Petersburg City Hall. He then worked as chairman, first deputy mayor and deputy chairman of the St. Petersburg City Hall’s Committee on Economy and Finance until 1996.

In 2011, by decree of President Medvedev, he was dismissed from his post.

Kudrin became Head of the Accounts Chamber in 2018.
