As you and I scrolled through news feeds and social networks, a new type of language was born and shaped on the Internet. They called it Dodster, but it would be more correct to call it Dodikovsky, because it is spoken mainly by the so-called Dodiks, who were also known in ancient times as chmoshniks. These are male citizens who have very little in their way (no career, no normal income, no external beauty, no cheerful disposition), who somehow miraculously manage to get a pretty good girl as a wife or girlfriend. Dodiks are mostly busy going to a boring and poorly paid job and teaching their lovers about life in their spare time.
Not everyone can recognize such a citizen right away, because during the candy bouquet period, Dodik hides his most important feature, his greed, even deeper. Once the bird enters the cage, it begins to appear in all its glory – and then our hero stops being shy and shows all his ignorant nature. Please note that here I am not talking about outright misers who do not pay for a companion in a restaurant even during dating or want to transfer their half for a taxi ride – frankly such topics have almost no hope for a happy family. life. The so-called Dodiks have such a chance, but their innate stinginess prevents them from taking advantage of this opportunity.
If at the very beginning of your life together it seems that only a zealous owner lives next to you, over time suspicions begin to arise that something is not right. Don’t think that it’s a classic sad situation when a wife needs money for a new iPhone but her husband doesn’t provide it. No, in the dodster world everything is much more complex and subtle. The fact is that representatives of this species have natural greed, as well as cowardice. The last thing in the world they want to encounter is a family dispute, so they disguise their ignorance as suspicion and false concern. For example, they say: “Why do you need a new bag (sneakers, jeans, down jacket, etc.), even the ones you have don’t fit in your closet.” Or: “Why do we need these dinners in a restaurant, we are throwing away money, let’s eat at home – cheaper and tastier.” Here’s another classic: “What a place Türkiye is, there are things you don’t see there, it’s hot and full of people, nothing is better than a summer house.” “Why do you need a gym membership? You can also practice at home using the app. And so on.
At the same time, he doesn’t seem to care, in general he doesn’t feel sorry for you for anything, after all, you are his beloved Kisa or Zaya, but in this particular case he is not at all sure and expresses his doubts. This happens every day. The funny thing is that even these situations are not always connected with the fact that dodik should give you money to buy the most necessary thing. You can earn this money yourself, but this prudent person will take care of your finances and ensure that you do not spend too much on nonsense. It’s not easy to exist in such a relationship, especially if you already have children. And leaving is kind of stupid, why? Yes, it’s greedy, but it also clips the wings of all dreams, both big and small: from a cruise (which I didn’t see there) to regular manicures (something you often go for just a month ago. I had one too!).
But in general, he is a positive person, as our grandmothers said. Doesn’t drink, doesn’t smoke, doesn’t party. But a little frugality is tolerable, even beneficial. Never get divorced.
We women have been living and enduring like this for years.
As always, there are several ways out of the situation. The first is to try to re-educate the greedy person. I will say right away that the task is almost impossible, and despite temporary successes, Dodik will always slip into his favorite type of ignorant whining. The second method is to earn so much that the zealous landlord does not have the right to vote (this is quite difficult to achieve, but in theory it is possible), and the third – the most common – to complain about your roommate to strangers. You chat and laugh with them, both at the stingy knight and at yourself.
By the way, the second one is a very useful option. And then, now this little man infuriates you with his narrow-mindedness and stinginess, but after suffering for about 15 years you will get used to it and not notice it. And there will be less desire. They say that husband and wife are the same Satan – you will get used to it.
