Days of the week have their own personalities. Monday has been Monday for so many centuries that it couldn’t be Tuesday even if I worked. It is very difficult to turn an eighty-year-old aeronautical engineer into a historian. He will most likely die as an aeronautical engineer. One of my mother’s brothers, who was running this race, designed a winged coffin. There was no way to talk to him without the conversation sooner or later turning to his professional interests. Most people like to talk about what they’ve learned, especially to get rewarded for it. Anyway, don’t ask Tuesday to lecture you on Wednesday. Tuesday and Wednesday live with their backs to each other, just like Thursday and Friday or Saturday and Sunday. They live in narrow compartments with perfectly defined boundaries. They know what time they will start and what time they will finish. Do not ask Thursday to penetrate a little into Friday’s space. That won’t happen.
