The average price for electricity under regulated rate customers connected to the wholesale market rose to 137.14 euros per megawatt hour (MWh) this Wednesday. That figure marks a 0.37% increase from Tuesday, when prices stood at 136.63 euros per MWh.
Within the wholesale market auction, often referred to as the pool, the midweek average price for electricity was projected at 138 euros per MWh. The lowest price of 108 euros per MWh is expected to occur between 03:00 and 04:00, while the highest price of 166.45 euros per MWh is anticipated between 20:00 and 21:00.
In addition to the base pool price, a compensatory charge is added to the price to cover gas supply costs. This Wednesday, consumers who benefit from the measure will bear a charge of -0.86 euros per MWh. The impact applies to those on regulated rate (PVPC) as well as customers with indexed rates, even if they participate in the free market. This adjustment is recovered through the market price per MWh.
Looking at the first eight days of February, the average electricity price for regulated tariff customers tied to the wholesale market reached 126.13 euros per MWh. This level is about 55.79% higher than the 80.96 euros per MWh recorded during the same period in the previous month, illustrating notable volatility in the wholesale market and its transmission to consumer bills (market analysis and summaries).
