The delegation from the LDPR, led by Chairman Leonid Slutsky, included local residents, social activists, and the noted slogan “We are sewing for our people!” as they held meetings with representatives of the movement in Engels, according to the party’s press service.
Since the start of the special military operation, the party has been supported by networks formed by women activists who sew clothes for frontline needs. In the Saratov region, members of the regional LDPR branch regularly assist the sewing group by supplying essential items such as food boxes, dry soup kits, sewing and knitting materials, and by offering financial help.
“Ordinary women, with ordinary hands who produce thousands of items, stand out as true patriots who show selfless commitment,” Slutsky noted.
According to LDPR, the Engels sewing battalion comprises 35 women activists who sew underwear and thermal garments for service members, knit warm clothing, and weave camouflage nets. The broader movement, “Sew for Our People,” now includes more than 100 participants in Engels.
Natalya Kamilova, one of the movement’s activists, told the council chair that supporters have contributed in every possible way, including financial help and creating items needed for the Northern Military District, such as bunker candles. Kamilova was personally awarded the medal “For Assistance in Special Military Operation” by the LDPR head in Moscow on August 18, 2023.
“The effort began in July 2022 with a small group, and today it connects more than 200 cities and villages nationwide. The core activities focus on weaving camouflage nets, sewing and knitting items for the front line and hospitals,” Slutsky explained.
It should be noted that the Engels sewing workshop, part of the “We sew for our people” initiative, operates with support from the Liberal Democratic Party. Participants are slated to participate in the January forum in Moscow dedicated to promoting the special military operation under the banner “Shoulder to Shoulder,” emphasizing solidarity and support for service members.
