Violence, prison stakes, and the Sancho case: a Max docuseries returns

Several days have passed since Daniel Sancho’s conviction, and the public spotlight remains intense as Max continues to unpack the case through new revelations. Following episode 0, which features an interview with Rodolfo Sancho, the platform is set to premiere a fresh installment in the series. The new chapter of The Sancho Incident is scheduled for release on September 13.

The original Max documentary series dives into the investigation surrounding the death of Colombian doctor Edwin Arrieta, which occurred in Thailand in August 2023 and involved Daniel Sancho. Recently, Thai authorities sentenced Sancho to life imprisonment for premeditated murder, concealment of a corpse, and the theft of another person’s documents.

Violence, dirt and stifling heat: the “extremely dangerous” prisons awaiting Daniel Sancho

In the wake of the Thai court decision, Max releases the first of three forthcoming episodes that will wrap up the series. Produced by Cuarzo Producciones, the episodes offer a carefully researched, fact-driven narrative that draws on important statements and verified information to build a complete picture for viewers. The documentary presents itself as a physical and psychological journey, moving through different timeframes and revealing new angles as the mystery unfolds. Key figures in the story include Rodolfo Sancho, portraying the prisoner’s father, and Darling Arrieta, who steps into the role of the victim’s sister. The lineup also includes the defense attorney and criminologists Marcos García Montes, Ramón Chipirras and Carmen Balfagón, along with prosecution lawyers, journalists who specialize in the case, and close associates of Edwin Arrieta. These voices help to frame the events with depth and nuance, offering multiple perspectives on the sequence of actions and the testimonies that shape the case. (Source: Max)
