Antonio, a 26-year-old man, killed his former partner Tatiana, about 25, and their five-year-old daughter in a Madrid apartment on Jacobeo Street in the Carabanchel district. Sources from Madrid Emergencies and the Madrid Police indicate that a prior complaint had been filed against the Peruvian couple for harassment.
The tragedy occurred around midnight when a man entered the home and struck his daughter’s throat. He sustained serious neck injuries. He also attacked his ex-girlfriend multiple times in the chest and other parts of her body.
As the young woman attempted to flee toward the garage to seek help, a neighbor alerted emergency services about the assault.
Medical teams from Samur Civil Protection tried to save both victims but could not prevent the deaths of the mother and child. The daughter and the woman were not found in the garage when responders arrived.
The attacker attempted suicide by slashing his own throat and was later found alive in the residence, where the incident occurred. The home housed the woman, a married couple, and their three children.

Medical personnel stabilized the injured man and transported him to the hospital in serious condition. He remains in police custody as the investigation continues, with prosecutors treating the case as a gender-based violence incident. The man was reported to be the alleged perpetrator of the stabbing.
Investigation records reveal that the police had to withdraw protection measures for the woman about two months earlier due to a court decision, after the alleged attacker was acquitted in a prior ill-treatment case. The victim was listed in the VioGén protection system as a high-risk case, which would typically entail very strong protective measures.
“I am deeply affected by what has happened to my son-in-law, his head is gone,” said the victim’s father, who appeared with several relatives, visibly shaken.
The incident shook the neighborhood, where the woman and her family resided. A demonstration was organized to condemn the murder, planned to start from the Avenida de la Peseta Metro Station and move toward the site of the crime.
The Homicide Brigade of the National Police is handling the investigation. If confirmed as a murder, it could become the 53rd case of sexist violence recorded this year, according to early reports from authorities.
Equality Minister Ana Redondo condemned the alleged murder and stated that such acts are intolerable in a democratic society that must actively confront structural violence.
Her remarks coincided with a broader political moment. As she addressed the Municipal General Assembly in Valladolid, she left remarks for the new Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, urging a review of gender-based violence data to inform the implementation of all available measures against this form of violence that threatens democratic norms.
Authorities emphasize that resources dedicated to gendered violence are accessible around the clock. General guidance indicates speaking with a trusted official or contacting emergency services when involved or at risk. Information channels include official helplines in multiple languages and accessible services for minors via appropriate organizations. For emergencies, people are advised to call local emergency numbers or use official alert tools that share geolocation with the police, if possible.
