More than 63,000 self-employed individuals in the Valencian Community will receive 300 euros each as a targeted step to ease the impact of rising energy costs that followed the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The total aid surpasses 19 million euros and is expected to inject liquidity into the productive fabric of the Valencian economy, enabling many entrepreneurs to expand their activities, according to Arcadi España, the Minister of Finance and Economic Model. In Alicante Province, 21,159 beneficiaries will benefit from this measure.

From the outset, local officials emphasized the need to be accessible to people who run businesses or work for themselves, as they face greater exposure to economic fluctuations due to the nature of their activity. Arcadi España noted that the administration would work toward the immediate payment of the aid, putting money directly into the pockets of Valencian entrepreneurs as soon as possible.

These details were shared during a working meeting with Alberto Ara, president of the Valencian Community of Self-Employed Workers ATA, along with Javier Pastor, general secretary of the Union of Professionals and Autonomous Workers UPTA-PV, and Raúl Salinero, president of the Autonomous Union UATAE. The discussion marks a continuation of ongoing negotiations with the sector as the aid was designed. This subsidy is part of the Reactive Plan and will be paid in a single 300 euro installment to each beneficiary, helping to partially offset higher energy prices. The subsidy is open to all economic sectors and is compatible with other government supports.

The Valencian Community is described as a stronghold for entrepreneurs, with a significant share of the regional economy anchored by this group. The Consell worked to ensure that the crisis from the pandemic and the war in Ukraine would not be borne alone by any sector. The government previously designed specialized measures to help address the pandemic crisis and now assists in mitigating the economic challenges posed by rising inflation. This response reflects the administration’s commitment to acting quickly in the face of changing circumstances and to sustaining resilience across the region.

Officials stressed that the region has historically moved swiftly to counter the effects of epidemics and war abroad. The current moment is described as one of rapid change, where the capacity to respond decisively will determine the strength to face future challenges.

Demands by province

Looking at the distribution, Valencia accounts for 54 percent of total requests with 33,988 submissions. Alicante follows with 33 percent, totaling 21,159 requests, while Castellón represents 13 percent with 8,200 applications.

Arcadi España reminded attendees that the design of benefits for the self-employed aims to align as closely as possible with the needs of the industry. The Generalitat held multiple meetings, especially with associations and organizations that represent workers’ interests within the framework of the Social Dialogue Table.

The effort also highlighted the work of Generalitat technicians, particularly those in Agencia Tributària Valenciana ATV and DGTIC, responsible for managing the assistance. Their contributions enabled a streamlined, efficient, and digital processing flow that supports rapid delivery of funds and a smooth overall process. This approach underscores the administration’s focus on practical, fast assistance to those most affected by the energy price surge. The information above is attributed to the Valencian Government.
