In a town of just over 30 residents, fear has gripped Valencia since Wednesday after a neighbor discovered the body of Ramón, a 77-year-old man found inside his home with clear signs of violence. The unfortunate discovery was confirmed by the mayor, Rosa Ortolá, who spoke with Levante-EMV of the Prensa Ibérica group as the news spread on Friday and fear settled over the community.
The Civil Guard is conducting a detailed investigation into Ramón’s death while a summary secrecy order remains in place to protect the ongoing inquiry. Residents of Sempere recall that Ramón’s garage door stayed open all day and remained ajar into Wednesday afternoon, when alarms began to sound. The mayor emphasized that this detail did not initially seem alarming to neighbors because Ramón often sat near the open door for meals or a drink, while a van was parked on the street and the door stayed open for much of that day.

By about 7 p.m. concern grew among neighbors. No one had seen Ramón all day, the van remained in its spot, and the garage door was still open. A resident noticed a light on inside the victim’s home and, worried by the absence, decided to check the garage and search for the house keys.
Entering the building, the visitor found Ramón lying on the floor with injuries consistent with violence, and the entire scene was in disarray. The mayor expressed uncertainty about what precisely occurred, noting that the place was chaotic with drawers open, mattresses disturbed, cupboards ajar, and items scattered outside. While investigators continue to gather evidence, locals speculate that whoever attacked Ramón may have been after money. They suggest the assailants beat him to extract any cash he might have had on hand and left the house in disarray as they fled.
Following the discovery, Civil Guard officers notified the authorities and surrounded the residence. The current focus of the inquiry involves collecting samples from the scene to search for biological traces and other clues that could point to those responsible for this crime.
The body has been transported to the Valencia Forensic Institute for examination and autopsy to determine a precise timeline and cause of death. This step is intended to provide clarity for the investigation and help the community understand what happened to Ramón in his final hours.
