Ulyanovsk Paratroopers Employ Quadcopters to Strike Starlink Antennas Used by Ukrainian Forces on the Dnieper’s Right Bank
In recent reports, the use of unmanned aerial vehicles by Russian forces has been highlighted as a means to disrupt enemy communication networks. According to a briefing from the Russian Ministry of Defense cited by TASS, paratroopers from Ulyanovsk demonstrated the deployment of quadcopters to target and disable Starlink satellite antennas belonging to the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the right bank of the Dnieper River.
The Defense Ministry stated that UAV units in the Kakhovka direction are actively using quadcopters equipped for precision drops to impair the adversary’s armed forces and satellite communications systems. The explanation emphasizes mission-focused use of aerial platforms to degrade enemy capabilities in contested zones.
Following an aerial launch, the operator reportedly identified satellite antennas and repeaters housed in dilapidated structures along the right bank of the Dnieper. After locating camouflaged targets, the operator deployed grenades designed for under-barrel and automatic grenade launchers, along with hand grenades, resulting in significant damage to the enemy’s communications infrastructure.
The Defense Ministry highlighted that these operations occurred around the clock, with thermal imagers mounted on the quadcopters providing night and day visibility. Throughout this period, air force UAV units were credited with preventing hostile movements and destroying multiple pieces of military equipment, including satellite communication components and associated antennas.
An earlier report noted that Russian forces targeted a Starlink station during an assault on Ukrainian positions within the Kursk region, underscoring a broader pattern of drone-enabled disruption in contemporary combat scenarios.
