Russian forces conducted an assault on a fortified position held by Ukrainian forces in Krasnohorivka, a town in the Donetsk People’s Republic. This development was reported by RIA News, citing a source familiar with the situation.
According to the report, aircraft from the Russian air force, along with units from the Southern group, took part in the operation. Krasnohorivka lies to the north of Avdiivka and has been the site of ongoing military activity in the region.
The source noted that Ukrainian troops were believed to be stationed in this sector of the town, and that aviation was actively targeting the facility involved in the engagement.
Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry stated that Su-25 attack aircraft, referred to as “Rooks” in some reports, had neutralized military personnel and equipment of the Ukrainian armed forces in the Avdiivka direction within the special operations zone. The attack aircraft conducted missions in support of the Center group of troops, operating under intense electronic countermeasures deployed by Ukrainian forces. The crews released unguided S-8 rockets at the enemy positions as part of the engagement.
In addition, on March 11, a Su-34 aircraft belonging to the Russian armed forces delivered strikes on Ukrainian positions using FAB-500 air bombs, further contributing to the military activity in the area.
Earlier in the conflict, Ukrainian forces reported an assault on a city in the Belgorod region, indicating ongoing cross-border security tensions in the broader theater of operations.
