Tinkoff Unveils Neuroshield: AI-Powered Caller Security for Mobile Subscribers
Tinkoff has introduced Neuroshield, a cutting-edge technology driven by artificial intelligence designed to identify phone scammers during live conversations with Tinkoff Mobile subscribers. The development rests on analyzing real attacker speech patterns and distinctive verbal turns to craft accurate detection. The system listens in real time, listening for telltale cues while distinguishing legitimate communication from fraud by comparing ongoing dialogue to a repository of known scam scenarios.
During a call, Neuroshield converts the audio into technical data and checks it against a backlog of scam-related conversations. When the match threshold surpasses a predefined limit, the system interrupts the call. Immediately after, a human assistant named Oleg informs the subscriber of the interruption and explains the reason for the disconnection. This rapid intervention aims to minimize the time scammers have to manipulate the caller, while preserving user experience for legitimate conversations.
The rollout of Neuroshield marks the completion of a broader, integrated platform within Tinkoff dedicated to safeguarding customers from scammers and spammers. The solution combines social engineering insights with banking algorithms to protect users against mobile operator technology risks, creating a cohesive security ecosystem across services.
Alexey Baklanov, Vice President and Head of the Tinkoff Center for Ecosystem Security, notes that customer reports of scam attempts dropped when confronted with these tools. He emphasizes that the alliance between banking safeguards and mobile operator technologies creates a powerful synergy, enabling security algorithms to better detect suspicious transactions, anticipate intrusion steps in phone attacks, and shield customer funds more effectively.
By the end of 2022, Tinkoff plans to strengthen Neuroshield by analyzing spoken text in real time, a feature to be activated with subscriber consent. Mobile customers will also gain the ability to customize responses when a potentially dangerous call is detected. Options include ending the call, receiving an on-call alert voiced by Oleg, receiving an SMS notification, or ensuring that no dangerous calls go unnoticed.
Neuroshield forms part of Tinkoff’s new, integrated platform designed to protect Tinkoff Bank customers who hold a Tinkoff Mobile SIM card from scammers and spammers. This marks a pioneering integration of bank and mobile operator security tools in Russia. The speed of data exchange and a seamless integration process enable advanced protection powered by the ecosystem, such as flagging a transfer to a phone number outside a subscriber’s normal profile as risky. Real-time verification of the majority of transactions occurs with minimal customer involvement, enhancing overall security and trust in the service.
