The future funding level and the schedule for deploying the new Russian Orbital Station ROS will come into focus once the preliminary design is finished. This update comes from TASS, quoting Yuri Borisov, the general manager of Roskosmos.
Borisov explained that Energia Rocket and Space Corporation is handling the ROS preliminary design at the direction of the state space agency. The work is currently underway and aimed at establishing the project’s feasibility and configuration.
He noted that the design work should be wrapped up by the end of 2023. At that point the station’s overall appearance, orbital parameters, the required funding, and estimated deployment timelines should become clearer. The information reflects the government’s forthcoming review and decision-making process.
According to the Roskosmos head, the preliminary design results will then be submitted to the government for assessment and approval. This step will shape subsequent planning and execution phases for the project.
Earlier, Roskosmos announced that the new Russian orbital station would be unveiled for the first time at the Army-2022 forum. Attendees had the opportunity to observe the Marker robot complex developed by Androidnaya Tekhnika NPO, which was tested as a security system at the Vostochny Cosmodrome. These demonstrations are part of the ongoing demonstration and public outreach surrounding the program, as reported by the same agency.
