The new rental campaign kicks off this Tuesday, signaling the start of the 2022 wealth tax season. From today, taxpayers can request and submit a draft tax declaration online, using either the Renta Web portal or the tax office’s mobile app.
The phone filing option through the Le Callamos program opens on May 5, with in-person submissions at offices available starting June 1. All channels close on June 30.
Filing a personal income tax return is required only for individuals who meet specific criteria—earning more than 22,000 euros from one payer, or more than 14,000 euros from two or more payers, or qualifying as a recipient of a minimum guaranteed income, among other conditions. However, anyone anticipating a refund remains eligible to file a declaration.
To access the draft, taxpayers must verify their identity with the tax office using either an electronic certificate, an @email PIN, or the reference number from box 505 of the 2021 declaration.
The campaign includes several updates: private pension plan deductions are more limited, with eligible contributions capped at 1,500 euros; a new field for reporting earnings from cryptocurrency trades; a larger reduction in module returns; and tax benefits for residents of La Palma.
Eligible recipients of the 200-euro check for vulnerable families, as well as the cultural bonus for young people, will need to declare these amounts. Women who lost maternity deductions due to unemployment under ERTE in 2020 or 2021, whether without a permanent or non-permanent contract, or who ended their self-employment activities, can claim these amounts on this declaration.
