The individual credited with the alleged material of the firearm aimed at a young woman in Platja de Palma last September surrendered to the National Police yesterday. After the surrender, officers proceeded to arrest him. The suspect is a 40-year-old man of Spanish nationality and faces charges of attempted murder along with illegal possession of a weapon.

The events leading to the arrest occurred at six in the morning on September 17 in Platja de Palma. An earlier confrontation at an entertainment venue in Can Valero escalated into a dispute between two men, the exact cause of which remains under investigation.

Following their exit from the venue, one man assaulted the other by striking him on the head. The aggressor and an accomplice quickly left the scene in a vehicle, abandoning the assault area and leaving behind the others who tried to provide aid.

Moments later, the attacker and his partner returned to the location of the altercation and drove past the building in their vehicle. In response, the victim and companions climbed into another vehicle, prompting a pursuit that unfolded through several Palma streets.

Eventually the suspect vehicle was abandoned near Las Maravillas in Platja de Palma. At that moment, a group of individuals connected to the attackers emerged from a doorway, and a clash erupted between the two groups.

During the melee, a woman in the group attempted to defend her husband, who reported being attacked by several people. A man from the crowd grabbed her from behind in an effort to separate one of the attackers. In a sudden turn, the man pulled a firearm and fired. The assailants then scattered, while the injured man fell to the ground with a gunshot wound to the shoulder.

Shortly thereafter, multiple National Police patrols arrived at the shooting site. An ambulance was summoned to treat the wounded woman, and she was transported to a medical facility for care.

The National Police Murder Group investigators confirmed that some attackers resided at an address on the street where the fight occurred. The area was cordoned off as officers continued their search for those involved. During the course of the investigation, officers located the firearm used in the shooting on a landing outside a stairwell, loaded with ammunition.

When several attackers realized police presence nearby, some attempted to flee the scene from a balcony. A man and a woman were detained by agents. The man, a 38-year-old Spaniard, and the woman, a 26-year-old Argentine, were among those apprehended. A third individual, a 53-year-old Spaniard, was also arrested. The remaining suspect, who fired the shot at the young woman, remained at large until the day of the surrender.

The investigation by the Murder Group continued as the fence around the author of the pistol shot narrowed. The case culminated in the suspect’s surrender to a police station on Wednesday morning, followed by his arrest on charges of attempted murder and illegal possession of a weapon.”
