The Russian Health Ministry has updated the Sputnik V vaccine with a revised composition and registered it accordingly. Alexander Gintsburg, head of the Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after NF Gamaleya, commented on the development. The information was reported by RIA News.
Previously, the expert stated that the updated Sputnik V registration includes changes to the drug’s instructions. This adjustment enables the researchers to continue studying the vaccine with adolescent participation, a step that is particularly important because another updated vaccine, Sputnik Light, is not yet registered for minors.
Gintsburg noted that trials of Sputnik V in adolescents are planned to conclude by the end of March 2024. Following the completion of these trials, the researchers will prepare the necessary registration documents for submission to the Russian Health Ministry.
