Shoigu in the foreground
According to the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense on its Telegram channel, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu inspected the troops in the military special operations zone. The report notes that the minister oversees how personnel and equipment are deployed at points where units are temporarily stationed. He also listened to unit commanders and paid close attention to organizing comprehensive support for the troops in the field, ensuring supplies, shelter, and mobility are aligned with field conditions.
In addition, Shoigu reviewed the spatial areas of military units and the conditions where soldiers are stationed. He checked heating and cooking arrangements, confirming that basic living standards are maintained in the field. The front-line encounter included conversations with the group’s personnel, who expressed their readiness and resolve. The ministry described Shoigu as receiving a clear answer of readiness — a sign that battle slogans were met with disciplined execution on the ground.
The defense chief also examined a medical unit, where the regiment’s medical service chief detailed how medical support is organized and stocked for field personnel, including medicines and medical equipment. Shoigu remarked on the importance of keeping troops warm and healthy, noting that maintaining the temperature regime in shelters is essential to morale and performance.
On the front line, Shoigu extended New Year wishes to the army and stressed calm and confidence, warning troops not to be alarmed.
Presidential guidance
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense reported that Shoigu was again visiting Russian troops in the military special operations area, this time within the Southern Military District. The minister reportedly flew over deployment zones and checked forward positions, meeting soldiers and thanking them for their exemplary mission performance.
The head of the defense department then heard reports from unit commanders on the current operational situation and the actions of Russian troops in the areas of operation. The briefing highlighted the focus on comprehensive troop support, deployment conditions in the field, and the functioning of medical and rear units. The ministry concluded this update with a note on the ongoing efforts to strengthen field readiness.
A day earlier, President Vladimir Putin held an extended, video-linked meeting of the Defense Ministry board. The president reiterated confidence that all military special operations will be carried out successfully and stressed the need to provide the army with everything required for success.
The president underscored pride in every servicemember who has enlisted and fulfilled their duty to defend the homeland. He called for ensuring barracks equipment, living conditions, gear, and medical care meet high standards. The discussion also included instructions to boost the combat readiness of space forces, with intercontinental missiles set to enter active duty.
