Being roughly 45 years old today doesn’t mean the end of the road. Yet many unemployed people in this age bracket face real hurdles when trying to return to work. The government provides a financial boost of about 500 euros to unemployed individuals over 45, administered by the State Public Employment Service (SEPE) to help bridge that gap.
SEPE lays out specific conditions for this support. Eligible applicants must not have children under 26 or dependents with a disability of 65 percent or more. These criteria are meant to ensure the aid reaches those at risk of poverty or exclusion.
It’s important to note that this benefit should not be confused with Active Addition Income, or RAI, which has already been discussed. Both benefits share the same monthly amount, equal to 80 percent of the Minimum Public Income Indicator, IPREM, which amounts to 480 euros per month.
The main difference lies in how long the support lasts. The subsidy discussed here is valid for six months and cannot be renewed. Only after this aid period ends can the recipient consider applying for RAI.

How to request the 480-euro aid
SEPE allows a 15-working-day window from the date unemployment ends up to the end of the month in which the request is made.
Requests can be submitted in person at a SEPE office by booking an appointment and presenting the required documents. Alternatively, applicants can complete the online process via the SEPE website using an electronic identity, such as the electronic DNI or Cl@ve system.
If identity verification cannot be completed with those methods, an “Individual Assistance Pre-Application” can be submitted online. Choose “Subsidies, other assistance.” A simple form is required; if everything is correct, an SEPE employee will verify the submission. [citation: SEPE guidance]
