Russian FPV drones are being adapted for urban warfare. This report cites Dmitry Kuzyakin, the General Director of the Center for Integrated Unmanned Solutions (CCBR), via RIA News. The center is reportedly developing a family of unmanned aerial vehicles tailored for fighting inside urban environments and structures.

According to Kuzyakin, the goal is to create a drone that is nimble and lightweight enough to enter a building through a small opening without losing link to the operator. The emphasis is on maintaining continuous control even as the drone maneuvers through indoor spaces where GPS signals can be unreliable.

The commander noted that such drones could reduce the damage caused by warfare by avoiding wide-scale ground scarring and the indiscriminate destruction of houses during combat operations.

Earlier reports indicated that the Russian armed forces deploy FPV (first-person view) drones and include a self-protection mechanism described as a quiet or silent feature to reduce exposure. There have also been references to specialized drones described as capable of delivering a surprise when captured by an adversary, a concept sometimes discussed in open sources as a Joker-type drone with explosive payloads.

Additionally, analysts have discussed how Ukrainian military leadership has assessed the Russian ability to deploy FPV drones in conflict, noting perceived advantages in this area.
