Russia Reports Slower Rise in Flu and COVID-19 Cases and Emphasizes Vaccination

During a working visit to Adygea, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko told reporters that regions across the country have seen a rise in flu and coronavirus cases. He stressed the importance of timely vaccination and noted ongoing clinical studies on a new antigenic composition of the Sputnik vaccine, which are moving forward and expected to conclude soon.

Murashko described the uptick in cases as gradual rather than explosive, highlighting that the overall trajectory remains under careful surveillance by health authorities.

Earlier, Rospotrebnadzor had reported that influenza and ARVI incidence rates had stabilized across Russia and that these trends held steady across all age groups.

Rospotrebnadzor also indicated that the number of Russian citizens who have completed flu vaccination stands at approximately 47 million. Vaccination campaigns continue in regional centers, with authorities directing additional efforts to inform and educate the public about the benefits of vaccination.

In related context, the World Health Organization has acknowledged the global potential to prevent or mitigate epidemics through effective vaccination strategies and robust public health measures, reinforcing the importance of ongoing vaccination campaigns and surveillance systems.
