Rostec Unveils IGLA BIOR Cartridge for Short-Range Hunting and Domestic Production
Rostec State Corporation has introduced the IGLA BIOR cartridge, designed for shooting at distances up to 25 meters. A government agency press release outlines this development as part of Rostec’s ongoing effort to expand domestically produced ammunition options.
In the press release, the service notes growing demand for containerless cartridges among hunters. The market response is described as strong, with interest from hunting communities and related outdoor recreation sectors appearing robust.
The new ammunition is stated to be built entirely from domestic parts and components, aligning with Rostec’s broader strategy to boost local supply chains. It represents a continuation of the IGLA family of products. At the time of the announcement, certification processes for mass production were underway, with a planned initial batch target of one million bullets.
The cartridges are described as tailored for short-range hunting scenarios, with intended use across fractions 9, 7, 5, 3, and 1. The focus is on reliability and effectiveness at close distances, providing a practical option for guided field use where quick follow-up shots may be needed.
Earlier statements from Rostec’s subsidiary, the High-Precision Complexes holding company, indicated that Russia’s armed forces began employing the Krasnopol guided missile within the Ukraine operation zone. This news situates the IGLA BIOR release within a broader context of recent developments in defense technology and domestic ammunition production.
Additionally, reports from Russia highlighted the creation of a new drone suppression system, reflecting ongoing efforts to advance counter-drone capabilities in the region. These updates underscore a broader pattern of Rostec’s activities in enhancing domestic military and related technologies for both defense and civilian markets.
