Two law enforcement officers sustained injuries while crossing a PMC Wagner column at the multilateral automobile checkpoint known as MAPP Novoshakhtinsk in the Rostov region. The incident was reported on a Telegram channel, which cited its source for the information.
The same channel stated that the injuries occurred due to neglect rather than as a result of any armed clash. The claim was later echoed by another outlet, Baza, which noted that one of the injured individuals is a border guard who is currently receiving assistance at the scene.
Earlier in the day, several Telegram feeds had circulated reports that two employees had been killed at the Novoshakhtinsk checkpoint, as relayed by Baza. Those claims were not independently confirmed by official authorities in the initial minutes after the incident.
On the morning of June 24, reports emerged that Wagner PMC forces had entered Rostov-on-Don. Photos showing military vehicles and fighters on city streets were published by TASS. In a public address, the Russian president described the situation as a perceived act of treachery and emphasized that anyone who knowingly engages in treason will face punishment.
In a separate statement, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of Wagner PMC, asserted that messages and videos alleging an attack by the Russian Ministry of Defense on Wagner rear camps did not reflect reality and amounted to an informational provocation. The claim was reported by Prigozhin through his statements to the public, with the aim of countering what he described as misinformation circulating on social networks.
Following these remarks, the National Counter-Terrorism Committee announced it would pursue legal steps, including a lawsuit for incitement to military rebellion, in connection with the dissemination of materials perceived as provocative and potentially destabilizing. The authorities stressed the importance of careful verification and responsible reporting amid rapidly evolving developments in the region.
