The Lipetsk region’s Investigative Committee press service confirmed that a criminal case has been initiated following a deadly incident inside correctional colony No. 6 in Lipetsk. A detainee mortally assaulted an internal service major who led the detachment responsible for educational studies, a fact reported by TASS and relayed by regional authorities.
The report outlines the conduct of the Pravoberezhny Interregional Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee concerning the Lipetsk region. It notes that the prisoner in question was carrying out official duties when the alleged offenses occurred under Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and, in relation to institutional isolation, Part 3 of Article 321. The document stresses the seriousness of the violation tied to the prison setting and the impact on public safety and order.
According to the department, the incident occurred on 28 June as the prisoner was escorted to a punishment cell for breaching internal regulations. He struck the internal service major with two blows delivered by a sharpened metal object and delivered at least ten additional punches to the head, resulting in fatal injuries.
In a separate case, a resident from a Bashkir village was previously sentenced to prison after assaulting his wife in the presence of their 12-year-old daughter, a crime that drew significant attention from regional courts and social services.
