The Chelyabinsk Transport Prosecutor’s Office reported that rail traffic has restarted on a segment of the South Ural Railway after a disruption. The information was shared through departmental telegram channels.
The halt was caused by a fault in the wheel pair axle unit of freight wagon 2807, which was located on the Kunashak–Muslyumovo section. The malfunction led to a delay affecting six trains in the corridor.
The prosecutor’s office confirmed that the Chelyabinsk transport prosecutor traveled to the scene to oversee the situation. An operations center was established for the South Ural Railway, and coordination with the responsible divisions of the Sverdlovsk Railway was initiated to restore orderly movement.
Traffic for passenger trains resumed at 17:43 local time, according to an official ministry statement. The Chelyabinsk Transport Prosecutor’s Office is conducting a formal investigation into the cause of the stoppage and the circumstances surrounding the disruption.
Earlier, a passenger along the Adler–Nizhnevartovsk route reported via social media that trains had been halted near Muslyumovo station in the Chelyabinsk region since 10:30 local time, with an expected stop in Yekaterinburg at 10:40.
Additionally, the Lastochka service, which departed from Nizhny Novgorod, experienced a two-hour delay after a power outage left passengers waiting in cold conditions. These incidents underscore ongoing safety and reliability considerations for rail operations in the region. (Citation: Chelyabinsk Transport Prosecutor’s Office)
